One Pound Fish Man in a cheering crowd Shahid Nazir was given a hero's welcome on his return to Pakistan The viral hit One Pound Fish, made by an east London market trader, is going to be released in Europe "imminently".

A video of Shahid Nazir selling fish became an internet hit and since then he has signed a record deal and got to number 28 in the UK charts.

A spokesperson for Shahid confirmed that he will now be releasing the song internationally.

"The response has been great in France, Germany, Turkey and a few other places."

There were reports last week that Shahid, originally from Pakistan, had been deported from the UK.

The singer said he had only gone back home to apply for a French visa, where he is planning to next release his single.

One Pound Fish is also performing well in America, with the spokesperson confirming that the song has been receiving a lot of coverage there.

"Details of a [US] release are yet to be finalised but look likely to happen,"

Shahid was visiting the UK for study and work when One Pound Fish became a hit.
